Trusting In God

A Testimony by Sarah Bell

Patience is not one of my strong points, so when it comes to waiting for an answer to prayer I can get a bit frustrated. When I’m in need I have always turned to God and He has never deserted me. Sometimes He doesn’t always give me what I think I need but God always provides for my needs.

I served on NET Ministries for two years of my life. When I returned home after doing ministry, I came back to Brisbane to no money, no car, no job and no idea where I was going to go and no permanent home. I was so scared and felt very helpless. I got a job as a kitchen hand for a while, but it didn’t last long and I was back to having no money and no job. I prayed and pleaded to God to help me find a job and I would cry every night because I didn’t know where my life was headed. I applied for a youth worker job and thought it was an answer to prayer. I was so confident that I would get it. Yet again I was disheartened. But God doesn’t close a door without opening a window.

I was told of a Campus Minister position at St John Fisher College. This time I prayed that God’s will would be done. If He wished for me to get this job, I trusted that He would be victorious - and what do you know, I got it! I now have a car, a job and I’m blessed to be able to serve on the Emmanuel Youth Team. I always think that if God had given me any other job or even the youth worker job I wanted, I wouldn’t have known the blessing of working at St John Fisher, which is such a joy. I might not have even been able to be on the E-Team.

I thank God for making me wait. Through this He has helped me to trust in His plan for my life. We should take joy while we wait because He has a plan for our lives. And when we wait for things like our future husbands or wives or his plan for our career, because we are waiting and going in His direction we are fulfilling His plan for our lives which in the end will make us truly happy.
